It is rare that I love a series enough that every single book has a 5 star review, but Mrs. Carriger has made a series that appears to be doing just that. The third novel is just as heart pounding and funny, if not a tad more serious in all the right places as the prior two novels. Of course, the cover shows the same beauty and style as those before and the description is right up there as well. What I like about this cover is that it finally allowed me to realize exactly how I see Sidheag. The girl on this cover captures her exactly as I think she is, although she’s wearing Ria’s masquerade gown! This got me thinking who the girls on the other covers would be. The first would be Monique, the second Ria, third Sidheag and the final would be Dimity. It was nice to put faces with the names. This story, as the cover seemed to promise, centers around a family tragedy for Sidheag where Ria steps in to help her friend and, as often happens to her, steps into the middle of a surprising and ever twisting plot. As they board the train things begin to change between the sets of friends. Ria realizes things about Felix and Soap, and we finally get to see Sidheag admit feelings for the hunky werewolf Captain Naill. I was very happy with Sidheag and Captain Naill’s arrangement, because I felt like they very much wanted it but couldn’t have it unless someone enforced it. The plot twists even deeper with Soap, and it promises a good show for the final book. I can’t wait to see how this series ends, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Carriger beats the odds of my reviews and pulls out a final 5 star novel for me!
