Music Musings Monday

Well, I can say I pretty much have been listening to the band 10 years almost exclusively, but honestly, can you blame me? They’re amazing! So this Music Musings Monday is going to be about the song that keeps playing over and over again in my head from them. I’ve been pretty dry for writing lately–only a little here and there, but I don’t pressure myself to write and no I don’t consider it writer’s block. I’ve just been so busy that I feel like my head is going to spin off. I’ve been working on writing, don’t get me wrong, but more about that on January 31st. (Oh, did I just give a date?? Mhmmm???) Here is the amazing band:

SONG: Beautiful

GENRE: Alternative Metal, Post-Grunge, Progressive Metal

ALBUM: Division

LYRICS:

Beauty over wisdom to fit in with their styles
Your Cinderella story’s for a price
Vanity’s a business built to please the unique
Silicone and stars collide, the rest will fall in line

Just as beautiful as you are
It’s so pitiful what you are
You should have seen this coming all along

Visually you’re stimulating to my eyes
Your Cinderella syndrome’s full of lies
Your insecurities are concealed by your pride
Pretty soon your ego will kill what’s left inside

Just as beautiful as you are
It’s so pitiful what you are
You should have seen this coming all along

It’s so pitiful what you are
As beautiful as you are
You should have seen this coming all along

You’re everything that’s so typical
Maybe you’re alone for a reason
You’re the reason

It’s so pitiful what you are
You should have seen this coming all along

Just as beautiful as you are
It’s so pitiful what you are
You should have seen this coming all along

It’s so pitiful what you are
As beautiful as you are
You should have seen this coming all along

ANALYSIS: This song has a catchy beat, strong rhythms, that haunting voice and insanely good lyrics. I love the pauses where the music slows and amplifies the feeling of the song and the words. My favorite quote “Your insecurities are concealed by your pride/Pretty soon your ego will kill what’s left inside”. My advice, buy the CD.
